Squawkbox
Squawkbox is a fictional character from the Transformers series. He is the combined form of the Decepticons Beastbox and Squawktalk.
History
Transformers: Generation 1
Squawkbox is the gestalt combined form of the two cassettes, the gorilla Beastbox and the parrot Squawktalk. This transformer uses both of his combined form's abilities in order to wreak both sonic and audio havoc on the battlefield. Squawkbox is the most creative of Transformers, but has little offensive capability.[1] He is a Decepticon.
Beastbox has a violent temper, and in his interrogations he would wither his enemies down with fists rather than words. Can record up to 6000 hours of testimony.[2]
Squawktalk never stops talking except to refill his fuel tank. Knows over 250 Earth and 6300 alien languages, but never has anything interesting to say in them. He has two forms, a mechanical bird and cassette mode, and can be inserted into the Decepticon Soundwave's chest compartment.[3] As a member of the Decepticon communications sub-group Squawktalk frequently worked with its other members - Soundwave, Ravage, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ratbat, Rumble, Frenzy, Slugfest, Overkill and Beastbox.
Reception
According to Transformers Identification and Price Guide Squaktalk's failure to appear in animated form is considered a great tragedy.[4]
According to X-Entertainment Squawkbox was awkward and fragile, but had big guns.[5]
Dreamwave Productions
Squawkbox did not appear in the Dreamwave comics other than glancing shots, but he has a one-page biography in the "More Than Meets The Eye" series.
IDW Publishing
Squawkbox appeared in Transformers: Megatron Origin beside Soundwave and Starscream after they massacred the senate. He would appear again in Transformers: Spotlight on Sixshot, where he helped Sixshot search the location of the Terrorcons.
Squawkbox appeared in issue #3 of Transformers: Evolutions - Hearts of Steel sending messages to the other Decepticons for Starscream.
Transformers: Mosaic
Squawktalk appeared in the Transformers: Mosaic story "Butcher of the Bogs" by Optimutt.[6]
