Simin Vaswani (born March 4, 1976) is an American independent film producer, writer, editor, actress, and dancer. She is the founder and CEO of Sarina Film Productions, a New Jersey-based film production company dedicated to the development of artists and converting imaginative visions into tangible works of visual art.[1][2]

Vaswani's notable achievement is her involvement in the short narrative-dance hybrid film "Timeless Love,"[3] where she served as the writer, producer, and actress. The film, released in March 2022, has garnered over 45 awards at international film festivals, such as the Vegas Movie Awards, London Fashion Film Festival, New York International Film Awards, and Cannes 7th Art Awards. Simin’s second short film Resilient has won 62 awards and she has won a total of 56 awards and 17 nominations. Both these films were Oscar Qualified.[4][5]

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Vaswani was born on March 4, 1976, in Mumbai, India, demonstrating an early interest in the creative arts and writing stories inspired by her visual imagination. She began training in Indian classical dance, specializing in Bharatnatyam, at age five and later expanded her proficiency to include Bollywood and Ballet styles.

Vaswani earned her master’s in computer management from the Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research in 1998.

In 2014, Vaswani started training in American Rhythm and American Smooth ballroom dance styles, participating in the Pro-Amateur Ballroom circuit as an amateur performer alongside a professional dance partner. Vaswani has also trained at the Classical Realism School of Art under the lineage of Jacob Collins.

Vaswani is a certified core energetics practitioner specializing in this evolutionary mind-body psychotherapy practice designed to facilitate the movement of energy and emotions.

Information Technology[edit | edit source]

In 1998, Vaswani started her career in information technology, holding roles as a project lead at organizations including Aegis Media, Time Magazine, Teach for America, Goldman Sachs, and Sony Music Entertainment. Her career in information technology concluded in 2018.[6]

Entertainment Industry[edit | edit source]

In 2021, Vaswani co-founded Sarina Film Productions alongside her husband, Harish Vaswani. The New Jersey-based production company focuses on storytelling centered around themes of love, resilience, and overcoming adversity. Vaswani is known for writing impactful stories that resonate with universal human experiences.[7][8]

Their production debut, "Timeless Love," released in March 2022, received acclaim at international film festivals for its romantic narrative through non-verbal communication, set in a 9-minute dance film format. The movie premiered at the London Fashion Film Festival, followed by screenings at the Cannes Film Festival, Marche du Film, the Cannes 7th Art Awards, North Hollywood Cinefest, and the New York Shorts International Film Festival. The film garnered over 45 awards at various festivals and qualified for the Oscars in 2023.[9][10]

In December 2023, Timeless Love was introduced to prospective investors to seek financial support and backing.[11]

She co-starred with her husband in the 2023 short film "Resilient," Which Vaswani wrote and was produced by Sarina Film Productions.[12]
