Early Life and Education
Shenal Thilaksha Vanderwall is a Sri Lankan entrepreneur and computer programmer, best known for founding the popular meeting intelligence application Meeedly. Vanderwall is recognized for his contributions to the PHP framework Bleenio, which he developed between 2012 and 2014. Additionally, he is noted for his research on real-time participant engagement in online meetings, where he introduced the first API interface with a browser extension for video conferencing platforms through Meeedly.
Vanderwall is the eldest of two siblings and spent his early childhood at the church near his home. Known for his exceptional problem-solving skills since childhood, Vanderwall has always been considered an interesting individual in this regard. In 2018, he attended the University of Central Lancashire (reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Central_Lancashire) , where he earned a First-Class BSc in Software Engineering and was nominated for a Gold Medal in 2022.

Career
Vanderwall began his career in computer programming in 2012 and led a computer software company in Atlanta, Georgia, USA (reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta) . The company was known for its innovative fitness solutions and unique approaches. During his tenure, Vanderwall invented a PHP framework named Bleenio, which allowed developers to easily distribute both front-end and back-end APIs with MySQL. At that time, PHP was a highly used language for web application development, but the lack of user-friendly frameworks meant that developers spent considerable time building basic APIs and front-ends.
Bleenio was designed as a built-in framework for PHP, with plug-and-play capabilities to quickly distribute web applications.
In 2021, during his final year at the University of Central Lancashire, Vanderwall began his research for Meeedly. His notable contribution to understanding participant engagement in online meetings culminated in his proceedings for "Effective Online Learning Management System to Improve and Enhance the Online Learning and Student Engagement Experience." This document details how the proposed solution, an extension, can enhance distance learning. Vanderwall secured funding for Meeedly from a notable investor in Sri Lanka and founded Meedly, Inc. In 2022, Vanderwall was invited to present Meeedly to Microsoft, leading to its implementation into Microsoft 365.
