Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi (سعيد غمران الرميثي) is an Emirati engineer and business executive who serves as the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EMSTEEL, a UAE-based steel and building materials company.[1] He is also the Vice Chairman – Arab Iron and Steel Union.[1]
Career
Al Remeithi was appointed Group CEO of EMSTEEL after holding senior leadership roles within the organisation and the wider UAE industrial sector.[2]
Al Remeithi has been a prominent voice in driving industrial growth, innovation, and sustainability in line with national strategies such as Operation 300bn and Abu Dhabi’s Industrial Strategy.[3] He has overseen EMSTEEL’s partnerships with major developers, including a collaboration with Aldar to supply hydrogen-based steel rebar for Abu Dhabi’s first net-zero carbon mosque, highlighting the company’s role in pioneering sustainable construction in the region.
Al Remeithi currently serves as the Group CEO of EMSTEEL.[1] Under his leadership, the EMSTEEL has played a central role in advancing the UAE’s industrial output, sustainability agenda, and global steel exports.[4]
The company has launched the first green hydrogen pilot project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in partnership with Masdar, producing green steel with significantly reduced carbon intensity.[5]
Al Remeithi has held several senior leadership roles within the UAE’s industrial ecosystem, including Chairman of Al Gharbia Pipeline Company and Chairman of the Steel Producers Committee (UAE).[6] He has also served as Deputy Treasurer of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.[7]
Between September 2018 and October 2021, Al Remeithi was appointed Chairman of the Economic Committee of the World Steel Association (worldsteel), becoming the first Arab official to assume this prominent global role in the steel industry.[8]
Global decarbonisation efforts
Al Remeithi has spoken internationally on the challenges of decarbonising steel, a sector that contributes 7–9 percent of global fossil fuel emissions.[4] He has highlighted the need for collaboration, government support, and cost-competitive technologies to accelerate the adoption of green steel worldwide.[3]
He has emphasised that EMSTEEL now operates with 45 percent lower carbon intensity than the global average, citing carbon capture, renewable energy partnerships, and hydrogen steelmaking as critical enablers.[9] He has also argued for stronger carbon pricing and financial incentives to make low-carbon steel competitive with conventional production.[3]
In 2025, under Al Remeithi’s leadership, EMSTEEL was appointed as co-chair of the Alliance for Industry Decarbonisation (AFID), a global initiative led by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).[10] The company assumed the role alongside Siemens Energy, replacing Tata Steel within the alliance’s leadership.[10]
