ReShauna Striggles
ReShauna Striggles (b. December 1992) is an American Brand Strategist, and Entrepreneur, most known for her social activism and personal brand, MSNEWSWORTHY. Currently she sits on the board for the Arizona State Conference - NAACP Public Relations Committee.
Early life, career and education[edit | edit source]
Early life[edit | edit source]
ReShauna was born in Miami Florida to parents Michael Striggles, Sonya Striggles-Jackson and a bonus father Anthony Jackson. She was one of 5 girls in her household.
Early Career[edit | edit source]
After losing both her fathers at an early age- one publicly, Reshauna turned to the arts as an outlet. She was enamored with the careers of musicians. Knowing only they could understand what it was like to have private and intimate moments publicized for all to consume.
Her mother Sonya, was a catalyst for her early career. "I remember when my mom got her first credit card. We had the best Christmas. She brought me my first CD player, and showed me a very early webcam." Eventually, Sonya would purchase Reshauna her very own laptop at the age of 14.
This personal computer was the gift that allowed her to make her first website. A blog about her local high school that went on to get 50,000 hits in 2 weeks before eventually being shut down by school administration. It was then that her knack for controlling the narrative was born.
Education[edit | edit source]
ReShauna continued on to study Communications at Arizona State University, leaving her sophomore year to take her first job at a Los Angeles based Record Label, UTLMMG. She worked as a Public Relations assistant, responsible for training new artists in Media etiquette, teaching them how to answer questions and properly promote themselves as public figures.
Activism[edit | edit source]
As an Activist, Reshauna started young, using every opportunity, including school essays to speak out about the issues of oppression and the black image. Her early idols consisted of Martin Luther King, Toni Morrison and Akon.
She admired the early work Akon was known for, siting him as her first example of how far Public Relations could take African American culture. In 2014, Akon launched his project "Akon Lighting Africa". This encouraged ReShauna to take her activism a step further.
Business Career[edit | edit source]
Melanin Media[edit | edit source]
In 2015, she co-created her first media company, Melanin Media, alongside partner La Monique Wade. The pair covered Entertainment, Social Issues and Events until their separation in 2018.
Freelancing[edit | edit source]
In early 2019, after 7 years of contract work in Public Relations & Social Media Marketing, Reshauna made the bold move to Los Angeles to chase her dreams of being a Celebrity PR figure.
Upon arrival, she started out specializing in Community Engagement and Strategic Communication for some of Hollywood's finest. By early 2021, amidst global chaos, her agency had its most successful year, doubling in growth after adding Crisis Management to her services.
However, in a determined quest to launch uniquely creative PR campaigns for each
client, while also working full time in Activism, Reshauna faced intense burnout in Q3 of 2021.
Burnout, Island Adventures and Tech Layoffs[edit | edit source]
By Q4 2021, ReShauna decided to re-design her life and her career. She took time off and relocated to the island of Puerto Rico. It was there that she learned the power of rest, relaxation and letting go of control.
Upon her return to the main land in 2022, she took a contracted agency job working in the Digital Strategy department for Google. This was her first corporate experience.
In 2023, Google, among other tech giants initiated layoffs. Reshauna took the summer to travel with family before jumping back on the CEO horse, re-launching an even better MSNEWSWORTHY.
MSNEWSWORTHY.com[edit | edit source]
As of 2024 Reshauna sits as the lead strategist at Msnewsworthy.com overseeing a team of 6 creative professionals on their journey to help CEO's manage their growing brands.
She has plans to expand her own agency alongside parters.
