Pedro Sánchez

Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón (born 29 February 1972) is a Spanish politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Spain since June 2018. He is a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and has been its Secretary-General since 2014, except for a brief period in 2016.[1]

Early life and education

Pedro Sánchez was born in Madrid, Spain. He earned a degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed postgraduate studies at the Free University of Brussels.[2]

Political career

Sánchez began his political career in the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party. He served as a member of the Congress of Deputies and gradually rose within the party ranks. In 2014, he was elected Secretary-General of PSOE.

In 2018, following a successful no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, Sánchez became Prime Minister of Spain. During his tenure, he has focused on social policies, economic reforms, and European Union relations.[3]

Personal life

Sánchez is married to María Begoña Gómez Fernández and they have two children. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.
