Nahim Jorge Bonilla (born April 21, 1988, in Mexico City, Mexico) is an entrepreneur whose business activities include hospitality, nightlife, event production, and Latin music. He is associated with the establishment of Mandrake Miami and Ruido Callejero Music. He also belongs to the family of renowned actor Hector Bonilla Rebentun and owns Mandrake, a restaurant and entertainment establishment in Miami Beach.
Early life
Nahim Jorge Bonilla was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and spent his early childhood there. When he was 10 years old, his mother decided to leave Mexico and settle in Montreal, Canada, taking him with her. He grew up in Montreal following the family's relocation.
Early Entrepreneurial Career
Bonilla's first business venture was a resto-bar named Barbe Bleue (Blue Beard), through which he entered the hospitality industry.
He later established a nightclub known as Ruby WU. The name was chosen as a tribute to his only daughter, Ruby. Located in the Chinatown district of Montreal, the nightclub became a meeting place for people interested in Latin music and nightlife. Its popularity within the local Latin community grew within a few months of its opening.
Following the development of Ruby WU, Bonilla and his wife, Melissa, began expanding their activities into the live music sector. They started arranging appearances by Latin performers and established an event production business called M.E.L. Productions (Music Events Latino-Americanos).
One of their significant concert initiatives brought four Latin artists together for a performance on the same stage in Montreal. This approach was described as a new development for the city's Latin music entertainment scene.
Through M.E.L. Productions, they organized performances by reggaeton artists Karol-G, Noriel, Darrell, and Almighty. Their events also included representatives of other Latin music genres, such as bachata performers Luis Vargas and Raulin Rodriguez and salsa artists Victor Manuelle and Grupo Niche. These productions expanded their activities into artist promotion, live performances, and concert organization.
Current Life
Bonilla and Melissa continued their work in concert and event production, gradually expanding the range of performances organized through their company. Their efforts received recognition through a Latin Award for Best Concert of the Year, associated with their production featuring the Latin music group Grupo Niche.
The couple subsequently expanded their business interests by acquiring a concert venue and reception hall in Montreal. They named the property RoseWood, adding venue operations to their existing activities in hospitality and entertainment.
The grand opening of RoseWood featured DJ Kass, whose song "Scooby-Doo Papa" had gained popularity, particularly in South America. The celebration attracted local artists, influential personalities, and members of Montreal's Latin community.
A few months before the pandemic, Bonilla and Melissa received a business proposal that prompted them to make a major change in their business and personal lives. They decided to sell their Montreal establishments and relocate to Miami.
After moving to Miami, they purchased the waterfront mansion formerly owned by famous DJ Khaled. They also acquired Mandrake in Miami Beach, continuing their entrepreneurial activities in a new market and extending their involvement in the hospitality and entertainment industries.
Personal life
Nahim Jorge Bonilla was born in Mexico and is the son of Nahim Jorge Cazarin and Adriana Bonilla Haro. He spent his early years in Mexico City before moving with his mother to Montreal at the age of 10.
In 2015, he married Melissa Granda, who is also involved in his professional and business activities. They work together on their entrepreneurial ventures and have five children. The family currently lives in Miami.
On February 9, 2023, Bonilla launched Ruido Callejero Music LLC, a record label that marked another step in his involvement in the Latin music industry.
His business career, alongside Melissa, has involved several areas, including restaurant management, nightlife, hospitality, concert organization, and music-related projects. Their relocation to Miami brought their business activities into a different market and helped broaden their professional network. Bonilla has since established connections with artists, music producers, actors, singers, influencers, entertainment professionals, and individuals involved in politics.
