Michael Danquah
Personal Life
Michael Danquah is a Ghanaian born American Chemical Engineer and Pharmaceutical Scientist. He is a professor and chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chicago State University College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy.
Early Life and Education
Danquah was born and raised in Accra, Ghana, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with First Class Honors from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He later pursued further education in the United States, obtaining a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center under the supervision of Ram I. Mahato.
Research
Danquah has expertise in polymer chemistry, polymer characterization, molecular and cell biology, and pharmaceutics. His research includes the design and synthesis of biodegradable polymers for controlled drug and nucleic acid delivery and the development of nano-based combination therapies for cancer treatment. His groundbreaking work is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, and he has been honored with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Award.
