London-born Dutch technology entrepreneur

Maximiliaan van Kuyk is a London-born Dutch entrepreneur and technology executive. He is the founder, president, and chief executive officer of IOU Marker, a financial technology company that develops software for invoice management, payment accountability, and business trust scoring.

Early life and education

Van Kuyk was born in London, England, and spent much of his childhood living in several European cities, including Budapest and Barcelona, where he attended American schools. He later moved to Australia and studied at the University of Melbourne, earning a degree in economics and history.

Career

Van Kuyk has worked in product development and entrepreneurship across financial technology, blockchain, cryptocurrency, creator commerce, and artificial intelligence. Early in his career, he participated in volunteer initiatives in Africa in 2006 and 2007 before managing a production company in Beijing during the 2008 Summer Olympics.

In 2014, he co-founded the V Initiative, a blockchain-based voting project that explored the use of Bitcoin technology to enable secure online voting. The initiative collaborated with the National Association of Voter Officials in the United States to examine decentralized election systems.

He later held product and growth roles at several technology companies, including Tinder, where he contributed to product growth during the launch of Tinder Plus. He subsequently worked on blockchain-based payments, loyalty, and marketplace platforms that later became part of Superlogic. He also co-founded OTH Network, a creator-commerce and fintech platform connecting brands with digital creators.[1][2]

In 2025, Van Kuyk co-founded IOU Marker. The company develops software that helps businesses manage agreements, invoices, and payment follow-ups. Its platform includes a Trust Score system that evaluates business reliability using factors such as payment history, communication, and professional conduct, alongside AI-assisted tools that automate invoice reminders and collection workflows.
