James Ladyman

James Ladyman is a British philosopher of science and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Bristol.^[1] He is currently an Associate Editor of Elsevier's Studies in History and Philosophy of Science^[2], having previously served as Editor-in-Chief of Studies in History and Philosophy of Science Part B: Studies in History and Philosophy of Modern Physics until the journal was retired in 2021.^[3]

Career

Ladyman has served as President of the British Society for the Philosophy of Science.^[4] He is recognized for his work on Structural Realism in the philosophy of science, particularly Ontic Structural Realism.^[5]

He has collaborated with practicing scientists, including physicists John Rarity and Jonte R Hance, on research exploring the interpretation of quantum mechanics and the relationship between knowledge and reality.^[6]^[7]

Ladyman teaches philosophy of science at the University of Bristol, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. He also contributes to academic editorial work and serves on advisory committees for research in philosophy and science.
