Sir James Matthew Barrie was a Scottish writer who wrote plays and books.

He lived from 1860 to 1937.

King George V made him a baronet in 1913, which is a special honor, like a knight. He was allowed to call himself Sir Barrie.

The king also made him a member of the Order of Merit in 1922 for his writing.

His best-known play is Peter Pan which he wrote in 1904. Another play he wrote is What Every Woman Knows in 1908.

His plays were clever and people liked them. Some were silly and were like fairy tales. Others were sad and full of strong feelings.
