Edmond Saade is a Venezuelan-American entrepreneur and technology founder based in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida. He is best known as the founder and chief executive officer of TeamUp, a social sports platform designed to connect individuals for in-person sports, gym sessions, and recreational activities. Saade founded the company at the age of 19, making him one of the younger Gen Z entrepreneurs to launch a venture-backed technology startup in the United States.[1]
Early life and education
Edmond Saade was born in Venezuela and later relocated to Miami, Florida, where he established himself in the local entrepreneurial community. He studied at the SMU Cox School of Business, where he developed an interest in technology, community building, and startup culture.[2]
The idea for TeamUp emerged from a personal challenge he experienced as a college student — the difficulty of finding consistent workout partners and sports opponents. This lived experience became the foundation of his entrepreneurial mission.[3]
Career
TeamUp
Saade founded TeamUp in 2024 as a social sports technology company headquartered in Florida. The platform enables users to find local partners for sports and fitness activities, schedule matches, log match results, and track performance progress through structured competitive leaderboards.[4]
TeamUp is positioned as an antidote to passive digital consumption, operating under the brand mantra stop scrolling, start sweating. The platform targets Generation Z users, college communities, and sports clubs, with a focus on facilitating real-world human connection rather than online interaction.[5]
The company differentiates itself from traditional social applications by integrating gamification mechanics into physical activity — allowing users to compete against peers through leaderboards and track measurable progress over time. Saade has described the platform's core purpose as solving a "practical coordination challenge that limits consistency in sports and fitness."[6]
As part of its early growth strategy, TeamUp has pursued partnerships with universities and community organizations. The company is expanding into new sports verticals and cities as it scales its user base.[7]
Art Basel Miami launch event
On December 7, 2024, during Art Basel Miami, TeamUp co-hosted its MVP launch event at the Scarface Mansion in Miami. The event was co-produced with internet personality and live streamer N3on, who broadcast the evening to over 40,000 concurrent viewers. The creators, musicians, athletes, and executives in attendance collectively represented a social media following of over 100 million people, and content from the event generated more than 50 million impressions across social media platforms within 24 hours.[8]
The event featured performances by Jr Choi and Yume Worldwide, and was widely described by Saade as a real-world proof of concept for TeamUp's broader mission of using technology to facilitate physical community and in-person connection.
Pitch Lift recognition
TeamUp was recognised as a top-three finalist out of over 500 companies at Pitch Lift during LA Tech Week, marking early industry validation for the platform's concept and business model.[9]
Philosophy and approach
Saade has spoken publicly about the role of community and mentorship in building TeamUp, emphasising the importance of being physically present in entrepreneurial environments. He has stated that proximity to high-performing founders and executives has been a primary driver of his company's growth trajectory.
His broader mission is framed around addressing two intersecting societal issues — the rise of youth loneliness and the decline of outdoor physical activity — through intentional technology design. He considers TeamUp a "lifestyle shift" rather than simply a product, aimed at reframing digital tools as facilitators of offline human experience.[10]
