Squash Career

Patrick started playing squash at a young age of 7 years old as himself and his parents were members of the Royal Lake Club. Squash was introduced to him by his parents however due to his age, he was unable to carry and play with a squash racquet because of its weight. Patrick used a badminton racquet and a ping pong ball instead fo build his strength and build his squash movements. At a young age of 9-10 years old he then started challenging and beating adult members of the Royal Lake Club and used to choose his opponents based on their ranking in Club Squash Competitions. His journey began from Club Tournaments to State Competitions to National Championships.

At 11 years old, Patrick joined the Malaysian National Squash team and won the National Under-13 championship whilst winning the South Asian Pacific Squash Championship in Australia a year later at 12 years old. After which he won the British Under-14 Open and won the World Junior Open 3 times becoming the first and youngest player to win the Junior Open 3 times.

After his SPM Exams, Patrick decided to take 2 years off to go Pro in Squash and played Pro during 1987-1989 making him the first Malaysian Squash player at the time to go pro. During this time, Patrick played world renowned players such as Jansher Khan in January 1987 in Karachi at the Asian Junior Team Event where Malaysia took overall second place while Pakistan took first place.

Patrick was invited by Havard to join their Harvard International Squash Exchange Program in June 1987 at which he was offered a scholarship to play for their team however Patrick suffered from a broken hand and was unable to accept the scholarship at the time.

Patrick eventually retired from squash due to a slip disc back injury and had to undergo 2 back surgeries.

Medical Career

Since young, Patrick always had the ambition to become a doctor which is why after 2 years of going pro he eventually retired from the sport. In 1992 Patrick went to Manipal Academy of Higher Education and started his medical journey to become a doctor of which he eventually graduated in 1997.

Klinik Patrick's Medical
