Andrei Popescu

Andrei-Dragoș Popescu (born May 30, 1985, in Craiova, Dolj County, Romania), professionally known as Andrei Popescu, is a Romanian author, academic, and investment executive based in Singapore. He is recognized for his work in financial digital assets, decentralized finance, and advanced portfolio risk modeling within global capital markets.

Popescu has authored numerous academic papers and industry publications covering blockchain-based financial systems, cryptocurrency markets, and the integration of digital assets into traditional investment frameworks. His work is frequently cited in scholarly platforms including Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, and ResearchGate.

Early life and education

Popescu was born and raised in Craiova, Romania. He completed his higher education at the University of Craiova, earning a master’s degree in Business Management followed by a PhD in Finance. His academic training focused on financial markets, risk analysis, and mathematical modeling of asset portfolios.

Professional career

After completing his doctoral studies, Popescu established his professional career across Europe and Southeast Asia, where he became actively involved in the fintech and asset management sectors. He is the founder and chief executive officer of SCX Holdings Pte. Ltd., an investment and asset management company headquartered in Singapore that specializes in digital assets and alternative investment strategies.

Under his leadership, the company has developed portfolio strategies designed to address market volatility in cryptocurrency and decentralized finance environments. He has also contributed to industry discussions through advisory roles, expert commentary, and participation in financial innovation programs.

In addition to corporate leadership, Popescu serves as a founding board member of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (RoCham), supporting international trade relationships and Romanian entrepreneurship in Southeast Asia.
