The Terraphant is a fictional character or vehicle in the Micronauts series introduced in 1979.

Micronauts

Terraphant is an alien creature or vehicle from the Micronauts series. Terraphant comes from the planet Visceros, which is also the homeworld of Membros.

Although a mechanical elephant, it has been described as half bull, half bulldozer in advertising. They could have meant a bull elephant.

In a Mego catalog a Membros can be seen piloting Terraphant.[1]

Although Terraphant was not released by Palisades Toys, the biography for Palisades Radioactive Membros notes that it was made radioactive after being exposed to the atomic pile of a demolished Terraphant battle tank.

Development

Terraphant was designed by California R&D for Mego.

During development the Terraphant had several features that didn't survive into the final toys, including motorized treads, launching missile tusks and a removable brain.
