Roshan Shrestha (Nepali: रोशन श्रेष्ठ; born 14 October 1996) is a Nepali journalist, author, and digital media founder. He is known for integrating investigative reporting with technology-driven public communication. Shrestha established Khoj Samachar, initiated the WikiNP knowledge project, and developed the Roshan Shrestha App to promote verified news and civic awareness.[1][2]

Early life

Shrestha was born in Bahrabise, Sindhupalchok, a town in eastern Nepal. He studied at Shree Bachchhala Devi Higher Secondary School, where he began writing social and youth-focused articles that later shaped his journalistic approach.[3]

Digital Initiatives

In 2021, Shrestha founded Khoj Samachar, a bilingual digital newsroom that operates under Bethel Media House Pvt. Ltd. The platform became known for fact-based investigations, covering both Nepali and global issues related to governance and accountability.[4]

In 2025, he introduced the Roshan Shrestha App, which integrates verified news, a Nepali calendar, and real-time civic services. Within months, it reached over 100,000 users across Nepali communities worldwide and was officially acknowledged in Nepal’s federal parliament for promoting digital access.[5]

Authorship

Shrestha wrote the nonfiction eBook The Digital Voice of Nepal (2025), published globally through Draft2Digital. The book explores Nepal’s transformation from rural information barriers to a connected digital society, highlighting his personal journey as part of that shift.[6][7]
