Oberon is a fictional character from the Micronauts series introduced in 1977. He was the Star Stallion partner to Force Commander.
Micronauts[edit | edit source]
Oberon is the horse (or Star Stallion) partner of Force Commander. He combines with Force Commander to form a centaur.
Oberon is also the name of an unrelated character in the Hasbro Micronauts toy line.
Development[edit | edit source]
The toy for Oberon was first developed as Panzeoid for the Steel Jeeg series.
The Oberon toy was designed by Iwakichi Ogawa and was filed for US patent in 1977.[1]
Oberon was released by Mego in 1977. He was also release by Airfix and Pin Pin Toys.
Palisades released a boxed set of Force Commander with Oberon in 2002.
In 2017 Hasbro released a box set at SDCC which included a figurine called Oberon. This Oberon was a new character, a humanoid with a wheel for legs.
In 2018 Mathew Robert Ignash released several parts for Oberon on Shapeways.

According to Eric Rogers, the character of Oberon is original to the Micronauts cartoon.[2]

2018 Hasbro Studios[edit | edit source]
Oberon was a main character in the unreleased 2018 Micronauts cartoon made by Hasbro Studios. Although he shares a name with the Mego Micronauts toy, he is an original character.

1979 Marvel Comics[edit | edit source]

Oberon appeared as the horse of Prince Argon. He controlled the horse with telepathy. Prince Argon and Oberon were joined in the form of a centaur in an experiment by Baron Karza.
Force Commander changed to his centaur form in issue 43 as he swore to find his sister Mari on Homeworld.
2016 IDW Publishing[edit | edit source]
In Micronauts 6 by IDW Publishing Baron Daigon enerchanged into a centaur form for fight Baron Karza. Daigon was killed.
Commercials[edit | edit source]
Oberon shared a 1977 commercial with Acroyear, Acroyear II, Andromeda, Baron Karza, Force Commander, Galactic Defender, Pharoid and Space Glider.[3]
Force Commander, Oberon, Baron Karza and Andromeda appeared together in a 1980 Italian Micronauti commercial by Gig.[4]

- A recolor of Takara Steel Jeeg Panzeroid.
- This toy shares most of his molding with Andromeda and Megas. He was remolded with a new head into Lantaurion and Pegasus. This mold was also recolored into Star Knights Metallion, Steed and Vigilante.
- Airfix Micronauts Oberon (1977)
- A release fo the toy in Europe by Airfix.
- El Greco Oi Astpomaxhtes Oberon
- A release of the toy in Greece by El Greco.
- Gig Nuovi Micronauti Oberon
- A red/white recolor of Oberon released in Italy by Gig.
- Pin Pin Toys Micronauts Oberon
- A release of the Mego toy in France by Pin Pin Toys.
- Palisades Micronauts Force Commander with Oberon (2002)
- Released as a set in a variety of colors including white/red, clear/black and translucent red/white.
- Palisades also produced a rare gold gold/white set as a gift to say "thank you" to certain members of the Yahoo! Groups Micropolis Embassy mailing list for all their help in the series 1 production.

- Hasbro Revolution (2017)
- A box set that included small Micronauts figurines and other toys from other lines.
- Includes figurines of classic characters of Acroyear, Baron Karza and Biotron. There the Antron-like Xant, a female Space Glider named Phenolo-Phi, a green Time Traveler named Quin-Tillus and new characters using the classic Micronauts names Oberon, Betatron and Gammatron.
