Jeanne Bender (born August 13, 1955) is an American children's author, best known for creating the Lindie Lou Adventure Series. Her books have received multiple Mom’s Choice Gold Awards and international recognition, including selection by the New Zealand Literacy Association for its 2023 annual conference.[1][2]

Early life and education edit

Bender was born Jeanne Ann Reichert in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the second of eight children of Richard and Catherine Regina Reichert.[3] She began writing short stories and poetry in elementary school, encouraged by a teacher who helped her develop grammar and writing skills. She later pursued writing studies in Seattle and attended programs at Oxford University in England.[4]

Bender released her first book in 2015. Since then, she has spoken at schools, libraries, bookstores, and literacy conventions in the United States and internationally, including Mexico and New Zealand.[5] Her series has been incorporated into classrooms and English as a Second Language programs.[6]

Bender divides her time between Seattle, San Diego, and Cabo San Lucas. She has two children and two stepchildren.[10]
