Michael Jermaine Washington (born July 21, 1983), professionally known as Gangster Twilight or simply “G. Twilight”, Alshafaq El-Bey and Twilliam Shakespeare is an American rapper, music producer, author/narrator of erotic fiction stories, entrepreneur, former drug dealer and former procurer from the Westside of Detroit, Michigan.[1]

History

Starting in 2008 and with the guidance and direction of Morris Porter of "Mo Masters Studio", the rapper wrote, produced, and recorded what became known as "The Maserati Rick Song", a cautionary tale inspired by the lives of Detroit kingpins Richard "Maserati Rick" Carter Sr. and Demetris "Meech" Holloway. The song was later featured in the 2010 documentary film "Demetrius Holloway: Last Man Standing". Prior to recording, Washington attended Central Michigan University for one year before being put on academic probation. The rapper then moved back to Detroit and attended Wayne County Community College District. After moving back to Detroit he befriended a man named James Lewis (who he refers to as "Jamie" in his music), a former affiliate of the Young Boys Inc. drug gang, and eventually began engaging in criminal activity. This affiliation led to his 2009 arrest and felonious conviction for manufacturing, creating, and delivering of a Schedule II narcotic for which the rapper spent a year on probation with Oakland County Parole/Probation Office. Two years later, in 2012, Washington launched Detroit Tycoon Enterprises, Inc. with the label imprint Detroit Tycoon Music Group as he wrote and recorded the mixtapes, "College Boy Turned TrapStar" and "First-Time Felon".

Creative Skills

G. Twilight’s writing themes are centered on life within Detroit’s underworld, using his music as a medium for pulp fiction styled autobiographical and historically inspired narratives. His themes connect directly to Detroit’s illicit economy, urban decay, and the psychological toll of street life. The bulk of his work focuses on telling vivid, true-life cautionary tales about life in the underworld, experiences with relationships, drug rivals, interactions with law enforcement, blending personal stories with urban legends and history. Through his lyrical storytelling, he engages in social commentary, drawing on his first-hand experiences in Detroit.

G. Twilight's music under the stage name Alshafaq El-Bey focuses on Moorish Science, with an emphasis on nationality rather than religiosity and explores hidden history and legalese, with the aim of appealing to and uplifting an urban demographic. Within Noble Drew Ali's Moorish Science tradition, which Alshafaq El-Bey follows, the emphasis on nationality is a key tenet. The movement teaches that descendants of American Freedmen and Caribbeans are descendants of Moors and that reclaiming this "Moorish American" nationality is a path to empowerment and liberation from racial oppression.

Under the pen name Twilliam Shakespeare, G. Twilight writes and narrates non-music romance stories that often explore themes of desire and empowerment. His work is known for focusing on African-American and in some instances, interracial erotic fiction with actual adult film stars such as Ayana Angel, Jada Stevens, Yum Thee Boss and Diamond Monroe. Using real porn stars as muses in his writings has earned him the alias "The Whore Whisperer" in the genre. These stories are typically distributed by CushTube LLC. a subsidiary of Detroit Tycoon Enterprises, Inc. both owned by G. Twilight.
