David Colakovic is a business owner, philanthropist and sport enthusiast based in the North of England.
He founded the Eco-Power Group in 2013 and remains closely involved in its day-to-day operations. The enterprise began as a small skip hire business serving Doncaster but has since expanded to encompass several specialized firms in the environmental services, construction and leisure industries.
Colokavic’s philanthropic endeavors encompass support for various Doncaster athletic teams and two major venues in the city, Eco-Power Stadium and the Grandstand at Doncaster Racecourse. He also provides significant support for individuals and families facing medical difficulties and is a strong advocate for mental health awareness.
Business activities
David Colokavic has been the owner and chief executive of the Eco-Power Group since 2013.
The original skip hire business remains an important part of the overall enterprise, but the Eco-Power Group has diversified substantially since its early years. According to recent company reports, it has an annual turnover of approximately £60 million across its subsidiaries, and its operations stretch across South Yorkshire and Humberside.
In addition to Eco-Power Skips, the Eco-Power Group’s active subsidiary businesses include:
- Eco-Power Civil Engineering, which provides construction, engineering and equipment hire services across the group’s trade area
- Eco-Power Wood Fuels, which offers biomass fuels (specifically kiln-dried firewood) to residential and commercial customers
- Eco-Power Plant Hire, which provides specialized, low-emissions construction equipment for residential, civil and commercial projects
- Eco-Power Racing, where racehorses train out of 20 primary stables and 10 overflow stables near the world-renowned Langton Wold Gallops
A material processing business with two waste drying, sorting and processing facilities in South Yorkshire and Humberside, where waste material is converted into waste-derived energy resources such as refuse feedstock, biomass and solid recovered fuel for use in waste-to-energy operations across the region
The Eco-Power Group continues to grow, most visibly through an ongoing, two-phase expansion at the Eco-Power Racing facility.
Support for hometown sport
David Colokavic is a visible and active presence on Northern England’s sporting scene.
His work is felt most clearly in his hometown. Since 2021, his firm has had naming rights to Eco-Power Stadium, home of Doncaster Rovers FC, Doncaster RLFC and amateur and club-level sides such as Rossington Main FC and Doncaster Belles.
Colokavic and Eco-Power also have naming rights to the Grandstand at Doncaster Racecourse, a major venue for horseracing and cultural activities in Northern England. Recently, the grounds have hosted football matches of national importance as well as performances by international musical acts such as The Killers.
Doncaster is also a noted supporter of organized youth sport, including boxing, golf and football. He devotes a great deal of his spare time to golf and is a regular spectator at football and boxing matches at the Doncaster venues.
Philanthropic ventures
Distinct from his sporting ventures, David Colokavic is an active philanthropist through his Eco-Power Foundation, the organization he founded to direct his firm’s charitable giving.
The Eco-Power Foundation has fundraised for individuals facing medical diagnoses through the National 3 Peaks Challenge, directed a mental health awareness campaign known as #Walkingsbrilliant, and sponsored sport matches and other events to raise money for people and families in need.
In a personal capacity, Colokavic is a supporter of the Eve Merton Dreams Trust, which works closely with families and individuals struggling with terminal illnesses.
