His journey in music started when his father introduced him to the world of jazz at the age of 10, providing him with an Alto Saxophone and recordings of Gerry Mulligan and Charlie Parker. Though initially beginning with the Alto Saxophone, it was the Baritone Saxophone that he truly found his voice on, performing with various college ensembles.

After relocating to Philadelphia in 2004, he immersed himself in the city’s jazz scene, learning from the streets and eventually moving to New York City in 2007, where he recorded albums, performed in respected venues, and collaborated with some of the greatest musicians of his time.

In 2018, Jansen made the move to Kansas City, Missouri, the birthplace of jazz legend Charlie Parker, continuing to develop his unique sound and performing on the historic grounds of jazz. His influence has extended beyond performance as he educates aspiring musicians and advocates for the music industry.
