Al Mahi Chowdhury is the son of Bangladeshi journalist Md. Zahidul Islam Chowdhury[1][2][3]. He was born into the Rahim Bakhsh Haji family, a prominent Muslim family of the then undivided British India. His ancestors were from the Punjab province of India. He was born in the Amlapara area of the present-day Narayanganj city of Bangladesh.

Al Mahi Chowdhury traveled to the Holy City of Mecca in the first week of November 2024 with his father Md. Zahidul Islam Chowdhury and mother Dr. Farjana Rahman and performed the Holy Umrah and visited the shrine of the last Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), in Medina.


While in Mecca, he also visited the Prophet's maternal grandfather's house in Taif.
