Early life and education

Dominic Joshua was born in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. He grew up in a close-knit family where his parents operated a small family venture, which influenced his early interest in entrepreneurship and business management.

He attended Sacred Heart International Nursery and Primary School and later Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene. Joshua pursued higher education at the University of Calabar, earning his undergraduate degree before completing a Ph.D. in Business Administration. During his university years, he was active in student governance, serving as an SUG Senator, Senate Scribe, and later as Chief of Staff to an SUG-led administration.

Joshua began his entrepreneurial journey in 2016, establishing ventures in fintech aimed at improving financial access and digital innovation in Nigeria. Over time, he expanded his business interests across multiple sectors, focusing on scalable and technology-driven solutions.

He is the Chairman and CEO of Pryme & Calder (P&C), a diversified holding company investing in sectors such as financial services, energy, agriculture, technology, real estate, and mobility. The company operates through a hybrid model, combining operational involvement in early-stage ventures with institutional oversight as businesses mature.

Key ventures under Pryme & Calder include:

  • Traders Prime Microfinance Bank – A fintech-focused platform providing business accounts, escrow services, working capital loans, POS infrastructure, and trade clearance financing.
  • Midas Energy – Engaged in oil and gas supply, trading, infrastructure, petroleum importation, and energy transition initiatives.
  • Cultivate Africa – Focused on large-scale farming, processing, and agricultural exports, particularly cocoa and other high-value crops.
  • Wayger – An AI-driven gaming and sports platform accessible via digital channels including messaging applications and USSD.
