Gabriel Morris

Gabriel Morris is an American biotechnology executive, investor and finance professional who serves as President, Chief Financial Officer and a Director of Immix Biopharma, Inc. Gabriel has served as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the board since March 2021 and as President since March 2026. Morris has been the Managing Partner of Alwaysraise LLC, a life sciences advisory and investment firm, and a co-founder of Nexcella, Inc.

At Immix Biopharma, Morris co-leads operations and is involved in corporate development, business development, investor relations, financing, forecasting and budgeting. He was moved after meeting founder Ilya Rachman, and invested in Immix Biopharma before its initial public offering in 2020, and subsequently joined the company as Chief Financial Officer and Director.

Early life and education

Morris grew up in Tennessee, United States. He developed an early interest in science and medicine and published research in the Journal of Biological Chemistry before college. He was admitted to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Humanities and Medicine program, but ultimately pursued a career in biotechnology and finance.

Gabriel attended Vanderbilt University in Tennessee for one year as a Vanderbilt University College Scholar before studying at Columbia University in the City of New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 2008. While at Columbia, he participated in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Humanities and Medicine program as an undergraduate and published experimental research in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His academic recognitions included the Dean’s List and participation in the Columbia Emerging Leaders Program.

Career

Investment banking and mergers and acquisitions

From 2008 to 2018, Gabriel worked in investment banking, leading cross-border mergers and acquisitions transactions at Goldman Sachs & Co. and other global investment banks.

During this period, he participated in more than US$50 billion in completed transactions, including international mergers and acquisitions and life sciences financing transactions. His work developed experience across strategic transactions, financial structuring, investment and corporate operations.

Zap Surgical Systems

From 2019 to 2020, Morris served as interim Chief Financial Officer of Zap Surgical Systems, a brain radiosurgery company.

During his tenure, he completed an $81 million growth equity financing round for the company.

Alwaysraise LLC

In 2020, Morris founded Alwaysraise LLC, a life sciences investment and advisory firm based in San Francisco, California, and has served as its Managing Partner since its founding.

His work through Alwaysraise has focused on life sciences investment, corporate advisory and strategic transactions.

Entrepreneurship and board experience

Morris has co-founded two companies. One continues to operate independently, while the other was acquired by a Nasdaq-listed company.

His biotechnology and healthcare experience has also included work involving Veris Health and Averto Medical. He previously held a board position at Averto Medical, Inc.

Immix Biopharma

Gabriel Morris became involved with Immix Biopharma in 2020 when he invested in the company before its initial public offering after meeting founder Ilya Rachman, MD, PhD.

He later joined Immix Biopharma as Chief Financial Officer and Director in March 2021 and became President in March 2026. His responsibilities include co-leading company operations and overseeing areas including: Corporate development, Business development, Investor relations, Financing, Forecasting, Budgeting & Operational strategy

Morris has led Immix Biopharma’s financing activities, including its initial public offering and subsequent offerings. These financing events have totaled more than $250 million.

His role at Immix combines financial strategy, capital markets experience, business development and operational leadership as the company advances its biotechnology and cell therapy programs.

Nexcella

He is a co-founder of Nexcella, Inc. Nexcella was involved in licensing the program that became Immix Biopharma’s current lead candidate, NXC-201.

NXC-201 is a sterically optimized BCMA-targeted chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy being developed in AL amyloidosis. The therapy incorporates a proprietary CD3ζ, CD8 hinge and binder “digital filter” designed to filter out non-specific activation. Its therapeutic approach is intended to enable the immune system to recognize and eliminate the plasma cells responsible for producing toxic light chains.
